the only way you can damage your growing hair is by damaging the follicle.

but of course, doing too much harsh chemical treatment will damage the hair that's already grown.

personally if i were you, i'd try to only go as dark as a medium brown; be careful when going dark when you have fair hair and complexion. your new hair color might not "match" your skin color.

Well, as it grows - your natural hair will come through the roots so you'll have blonde roots and black hair and that isn't pretty! So you'd either have to continuously dye your roots black or go back blonde. And it's really hard to go from black to blonde - leave it to a professional, please.

It will not "forever" ruin your hair but you'll probably have to wait until it grows out because black hair dye is a pain to try and get out of your hair. If you have Blonde hair and dye it a dark color for example black your hair color won't be the same my hair was blonde and I dyed it black and know my hair just grows back a dirty blonde color instead of the color it was before I don't know if your hair will be the same. It really won't ruin it, it just makes your color blonde turn to a darker blonde.

I used to have platinum blonde hair, and then I decided to dye it black. Eventually I got bored of the dark color, and I wanted to go back to blonde. But you cannot lift color with color (basically, once you go black you never go back), so what you need to do is strip the color, and then re-dye it. There are at-home color correction kits, but they are costly and any length longer than short requires multiple kits. Not to mention it is a very strong chemical process that can be tricky to do yourself. I suggest you go to a professional salon to get color correction done. They will use a harsh chemical to strip all of the color from your hair, which will turn it a bland color, and from there they will dye it to the color of your choice. I had my hair stripped, dyed, and trimmed for $85, but depending on where you go it can cost upwards of $125. I suggest calling around salons in your area to find prices, and possibly getting a few consultations done.

Basically, no, dying your hair black will not ruin it forever. It'll be easy to dye it that color yourself, but once you decide you want to lighten it again, it's going to cost a few bucks. black is a very drastic colour to change too but i understand how you feel you want a change, well don't try it yourself you need a professional. if your hair is as light as you say it is go out and be proud of it! do you know how many people are going to lighten their hair for the summer? people will pay large amounts of money to have the colour you want to get rid of think very hard before making up your mind.

you don't say if your hair is long or short or if you have a round face or another shape? go to your hair dresser and talk to them they may be able to help with the colour and style that suits you best.

Please don't dye your hair black! Blonde hair is the envy of many and i really think what ever skin colour you naturally have will suit your hair. If you are like me you will have quiet fair skin and blonde hair, but if you dye your hair black your face will look washed out and you will look a lot pailer than you actually are !!

Why not try a brunette or darker blond this could help you feel more confident if you don't like the blond!
