The first few times your stylist will be able to get your hair up to red or orange. Then condition heavily overnight and continue the next day. This may have to be done 3-7 times to get the black to blonde.

I wanted to add this.. with over the counter colors you can't dye your hair brown when it has been dyed black. Think of it this way, you know when you are painting with water colors and the water gets all yucky and dark from dipping your paint brush in it? Well, if you paint with white or yellow, the water doesn't lighten, does it, it just stays black or murky.

Powder bleach and peroxide are the only things that will work. I have worked as a color correcting stylist for a long time.

Black dye is almost impossible to get out of hair, especially since yours is naturally blonde. The drastic approach could be a color remover -- google it, I think Loreal makes some, which will remove the previous color you have (but i'm not sure how well it works with black dye) However with this you have to redye your hair after removing the color. If that does not work, you could gradual try to dye your hair back by going to brown, then go lighter, and back to blonde. I suggest you see a professional colorist who can really get your hair back to its natural color. They are the experts!

Black is the hardest color to get out of hair because, just like bleach, it strips your hair of all it's pigment. If you go to a salon they can lift the color out but this may cause your color to become blotchy and they may have to do it twice or three times to get it the way it should be. If you don't have the money or time for a hair specialist to repair your hair then go to a sally's beauty supply or a store that is similar to this and ask them if they have anything that will lift black out of your hair, most of the time they will tell you to bleach proccess it but this can cause a lot of damage to your hair and may cause the black to become blotchy. If all else fails you can try letting the black fade a little bit before you start to try and lift it. This would probably be your best best if you can't do the things i mentioned earlier

See a colour specialist like myself. You could go to somewhere that will bleach your hair out over the course of a few days but your hair will feel like straw and you will need majority of it cut off. Deep intensive treatments help to prevent further damage but people are fooled into thinking that they can repair the damage and they cant. Treaments are for PREVENTION NOT A CURE!!! and a colour expert will know this.

It is best to do the process slowly over time and keep your hair healthy and have regular trims and treatments. Hope this helps
